Open Positions
Senior Platform Engineer
Type: Full-time
Location: Syracuse, NY strongly preferred, but willing to consider remote candidates. We just moved into our sweet new office at the INSPYRE Innovation Hub!
About Us:
ResilienX is the leading system integrator for beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) drone ecosystems. You’ll help us build out our systems and solutions that make these ecosystems possible.
As Senior Platform Engineer at ResilienX, you will prototype new features, develop production-ready code, integrate new data feeds, interact across systems engineering, program and product management, with customers, with our partners, and directly with our executive team.
With the latest FAA regulations released for BVLOS operations, the drone industry is about to take off. This is your chance to get into an exciting industry that will be growing rapidly in the coming years.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to own and evolve the infrastructure that powers our products and development lifecycle. This is our first dedicated platform hire, and the role comes with a high degree of ownership and influence.
You’ll take over DevOps and platform responsibilities that are currently shared part-time across the team and design a more robust, scalable, and compliant foundation. You’ll work closely with the engineering team and leadership to build a platform that enables the team to move faster while still meeting the demands of aviation-grade reliability and security.
If you enjoy building systems end-to-end, introducing structure where it’s needed, and supporting other engineers through strong platform design, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do
- Act as the primary owner of our AWS-based Kubernetes infrastructure supporting production SaaS products
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code to manage environments and cloud resources consistently
- Own and evolve our Jenkins-based CI/CD pipelines setting standards for build, test, and deployment across environments
- Maintain and evolve platform controls and operational practices that support ongoing SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance, including security controls, audit readiness, and documentation
- Implement and maintain cloud security best practices, including IAM, networking, secrets management, and access controls
- Support and integrate Vantiq as a core data broker technology within our platform
- Improve deployment strategies to support efficient scaling over the next year
- Optimize AWS architecture and usage for cost efficiency and reliability
- Serve as the technical lead during platform incidents, owning root cause analysis and driving improvements to prevent recurrence, and help mature operational practices over time
- Create and maintain internal documentation, standards, and platform guidelines
What We’re Looking For
- Senior-level experience designing and operating production infrastructure in AWS
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes
- Experience introducing or operating Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
- Experience with Jenkins CI/CD pipeline
- Solid understanding of cloud security and working in regulated environments
- Ability to work independently, make architectural decisions, and follow through on implementation
- Strong collaboration skills and comfort working with both developers and leadership
- Clear written communication and documentation skills
- Demonstrated experience acting as the primary platform or DevOps owner for at least one production system
- This role is best suited for engineers who enjoy deep ownership and long-term system stewardship, rather than short-term project-based work
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001 compliance efforts
- Background in aviation, aerospace, or other safety-critical industries
- Experience with real-time or event-driven systems
- Familiarity with AWS cost optimization strategies
- Interest in mentoring engineers in platform and DevOps best practices
Why Join Us
- High-impact role with real ownership as our first dedicated platform engineer
- Opportunity to shape the platform and tooling from the ground up
- Work on meaningful products in the aviation and drone ecosystem
- Small, collaborative engineering team with direct access to decision-makers
Compensation & Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance is 100% covered by the company, as well as Long-term disability, short-term disability, and $100,000 life insurance policy
- Company paid parking at a downtown parking garage right across from the office
- 401k program is available, but there is no company match at this time.
- Stock options will be a part of any compensation plan. When the company does well, so do the employees!
- Salary Range is between $135,000 – $165,000
Eligibility Requirement
Due to the nature of our work and applicable U.S. export control regulations (including ITAR and EAR), this position requires that candidates be U.S. Persons as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62.
ResilienX is unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position at this time.
